Rhetorical Analysis

The First Charter of Virginia was written by Lukin, and was appointed by King James. This charter, or contract was written for the Virginia company, and all the people that were planning on going to Virginia to create a colony. The tone of this document was serious while trying to be persuasive. The purpose of the charter was to get people to move to two colonies in Virginia. He described the roles and territories the two colonies would have. He tried to persuade the people to move to these colonies by setting up there rules and offering benefits. The author created a serious yet calm emotion in the charter using his choice of words. He also created a pushy persuasion in his text. He seems to know what he is talking about in this document. He uses the correct words for such a contract as this, using laws. The author creates logic by already having a good plan for the colonies, and describing all the details of his contract.
